Mine, all mine...

I'm in love with all things Missoni! Two of these bad boys (girls?) are on their way to my house, via one of my favorite stores, Tar-get! I can't wait to see them sitting in front of my sofa. One with a beautiful tray stacked with lovely books, and the other likely with my fluffy white dog atop!

Confessions of a Design Voyeur

A dear friend is quite ill. Fortunately, lots of people have pitched in to help in various ways. My task: walk her sweet dog, which is no task at all since I am a flag-flying dog lover.

Last night as we were walking around her quaint neighborhood, I realized that I was peeking into her neighbors windows. Granted, I was of the "from the sidewalk" variety rather than nose-pressed-to-the-window type, but still, I was blatantly trying to see inside. However, let me say this in my own defense - I wasn't trying to see the people inside, I just wanted to see their interiors! I love seeing how people live, their design schemes, their themes, or lack-therof. As I walked around the neighborhood trying to appear as if I wasn't peeking, I realized that I am a design voyeur - and I feed that need daily by through the dozens of blogs that I regulary read. I literally could spend the whole day perusing blogs.

As a wedding planner, I justify this by drawing inspiration from the beautiful interiors that I see, and translate the beautiful elements from interiors into fabulous details for the weddings that I plan.

Today I'm sharing a few photos from a two of my favorite blogs: Simply Seleta and House of Turquoise.

I Love Turquoise

House to Home - via House of Turquoise

Oh.Oh.Oh. how I love turqoise. Slowly but surely my house is becoming home to turquoise pieces that catch my eye here and there. One of my favorite blogs is Erin's House of Turquoise. Every day I click over there to see beautiful hues of blue used in beautiful designs - each more beautiful that the other. Her recent post on turquoise sofas is a new favorite. I know I'll be re-visiting that post over and over and over and over....

Room Envy

Do you see a theme emerging here? I love all things blue and brown (if you check out my wedding website, you'll see a continuance of this same theme: www dot deannanashevents dot com). This room is by Genevieve Gorder from HGTV's "Dear Genevieve" program. I've long been a fan of Genevieve - from her early days as the always barefoot designer on Trading Spaces, to her new show on HGTV. She's fun and spunky, and always has the freshest of ideas. I love this room for the calm I feel every time I look at it. I'm also on the hunt for that grey and white rug for my bedroom!

divine design

I love everything about this design from Debra Geller in Westchester Cottages and Gardens. The chaises are divine, and I love the chandelier. Upon closer inspection, I realized that I even have the set of little mirrored tables. Now I just need those beautiful chaises!

fleamarket fabulous

Yesterday was fabulous. Blue skies. Rose Bowl Flea Market. Eddie Ross.

Eddie was on the west coast this weekend, and one of his stops was the Rose Bowl Flea Market. A few dozen lucky blog readers had the opportunity to take a "tour" of sorts of the flea market with Eddie and his fabulous partner, Jaithan. Eddie was kind enough to share the secret of what he looks for in flea market finds.

Of course, I snagged a bargain...or two! Check out these two fabulous turquoise lamps. They are d.i.r.t.y, but a little tlc will go a long way. You can see from the lamp on the right the fabulous tiffany blue color that is under all the gunk.

"After" pics to come soon!

outed! my not-so-secret affair with design

I've been a design junkie for years. Haunting flea markets, perusing magazines, and, most recently, stalking blog upon blog for tips and ideas. In November of 2008, my love affair with design reached new levels when, after many years in a tiny (think shoebox-sized) space, I moved to my ideal space. Windows everywhere, beautiful hardwood floors and rooms with funky details have allowed my design imagination to soar.

To those who know me, it's no secret that I could talk about design all day. At one time, I considered changing career courses to pursue design, but my first love, weddings, had a strong hold on my heart, so my aspirations for design remained in "affair" status.

Now that my secret it out, I hope you'll enjoy the view from these pages.
